Across campus students have been talking about the new Yoga club. Yoga club was only formed last semester but according to my talk with president Hillary Skov, it’s a big success.
Classes used to be run by Skov and her board members but they have started to bring in instructors from a local yoga studio.
Yoga instructors from Back Bay Yoga Studio came and hosted the class for the day. And now, Skov has instructors lined up for classes until mid March. The best part: it’s still free! If you have always wanted to try yoga but decided it was too expensive, now is your chance.
Skov and her vice president, Sarah Falkner, teach classes in the Vinyasa Flow style but the guest instructors’ styles vary.
Yoga club was started by Skov and her roommate when they decided they were tired of doing yoga alone in their dorm room and wished they could have some more people to do it with.
“The more people we talked to, the more we saw how interested they were,” said Skov.
Yoga club has weekly meetings on Wednesday night, 7-8pm in the Avenue Commons modular building. So far, each week yoga club gets between 30 to 40 students showing up for their meetings.
In order to keep up with the demand and the space limitations of the modular building, Skov hopes to offer yoga club another day of the week.
“We are always open to recommendations,” said Skov.
