Celtics Step Up as Rondo Sits down

When Rajon Rondo tore his ACL back in January, the Celtics thought that their team took a turn for the worst.

The point guard was a crucial scorer and playmaker for the Boston team. His being out for the season was devastating news, but the results weren’t as bad as the organization, as well as the fans, anticipated.

Since Rondo has been riding the bench, the Celtics have gone on to have their best winning streak this season, winning eight of their last nine games.

Veterans Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce have definitely stepped up their game, as well as their support for their team, though they are reaching the point in the season where their bodies start to break down.

With the draft coming up this Thursday, the players are unsure if upper management is going to look at making a run to this year’s playoffs, or if they are looking at recruiting talent for future completion.

Gary Dzen of had this to say:

No matter if [Danny] Ainge is looking to stock up for a playoff run or build toward the future, he’s going to have to do it soon with the trade deadline rapidly approaching on Thursday. “
