On Thursday, March 21, Emmanuel College was treated to a night of dance and comedy from America’s Got Talent Season Three contestant, Kenneth “Xclusive” Paryo that was preluded by a performance from the Emmanuel College Dance Team.
Looking much older and more self-assured than when he first auditioned in 2008 for America’s Got Talent at age 18, Paryo, who performs under the name Xclusive, started off doing an isolations routine to a dubstep mix. Immediately, the crowd was captivated with the Atlanta dancer’s robotic moves, searching for signs that he was, in fact, human.
Paryo’s hour-long routine was most memorable because it combined dance, music and comedy. Throughout the night he told several stories–from being caught stealing a pack of gum as a child to discovering that his girlfriend was cheating on him–using popular music and song lyrics that fit the sequence of each story.
Self-taught from online video tutorials, Paryo is part of a 23-member dance crew known as Dragon House in Atlanta that is also home to So You Think You Can Dance Season Nine contestant Cyrus “Glitch” Spencer. Last season, Spencer placed second on the show and Paryo was given the opportunity to dance with him and some fellow Dragon House members during the season finale.
