Ready for Some Spam?: Monty Python’s Spamalot is Coming to EC

Are you a fan of the Monty Python classics or British humor as a whole? If so, Emmanuel College’s latest theatre production is right up your alley.

On April 5, 6, 7, 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. and April 14 at 2 p.m, the Emmanuel College Performing Arts Department will be presenting Monty Python’s Spamalot, based on the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail in the newly-renovated Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for general admission but Colleges of the Fenway students can get in free with a student I.D.

Monty Python references a surreal comedy group from Britain that started in October 1969 with the BBC series, Monty Python’s Flying Circus. The Pythons developed from the television series into a cultural phenomenon, spawning touring stage shows, films, numerous albums, several books and a stage musical as well as launching the members to individual stardom. Their influence in comedy has been compared to The Beatles’ influence on music.
