Here Comes Jagr

The Boston Bruins made some big moves during the 2013 trade deadline for the NHL.  The biggest move they made was trading for NHL veteran and future Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr from the Dallas Stars.

In exchange for Jagr, the Bruins traded Lane MacDermid, prospect Cody Payne (Plymouth Whalers) and a conditional second-round draft pick in the 2013 draft.

If the Bruins make it to the Eastern Conference Finals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year, that draft pick would turn into a first round draft for the B’s.

Jagr has joined a team of young players, but the 41 year old has been able to keep his own among the younger guys on the team.

In his first game as a Bruin, he managed to score the one and only winning goal of the game. His goal prompted the crowd in the garden to chant “Jagr.”

“I appreciate it,” he said of the response. “I didn’t know the fans love hockey so much here in Boston, and it’s a little bit different than playing in Dallas, that’s for sure. I don’t want to say anything about Dallas. They were great, but this is the front level.”
