The year’s first on-campus blood drive took place this past week and many students took advantage of the convenient opportunity to donate blood.
When the Hub stopped by just over an hour into the drive, the Red Cross had already seen twenty-seven blood donors.
When asked about what motivated her to donate blood, Anastasia Yogas ’16 explained that “It’s one little thing I can do to help a lot of people. Plus, I’m O-Positive so I almost feel obligated to donate blood.”
The drive, which was organized by Deirdre Bradley-Turner took place on Thursday the 10th from 11-4 in Avenue Commons. The drive was staffed by members of the Red Cross and Emmanuel’s girls volleyball team, who were responsible for greeting donors and checking them in.
They explained that some students chose to sign up prior to the blood drive, but that they were also welcoming walk-ins throughout the day.
If you missed out on the most recent blood drive, don’t worry! The volleyball team let the Hub know that there is a blood drive each semester, so students will have the opportunity to donate blood again this coming spring.
