Find the Saint Within You: Apply to be an RA!

Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of residents on campus? Your chance to apply to be an RA is here!

The Hub sat down with Alissa Lynch, Resident Director of Julie Hall, to discuss the application process and what it takes to be a Resident Assistant here at Emmanuel.

Lynch explained that in order to be considered for a position as an RA, you must fill out a paper application, take part in an interview with residence life staff, as well as attend a group process, which is scheduled to take place on February 9th.

“We want to look at and see how people work in a team. People who might not interview so well, might work better in a group setting,” Lynch said of the group process portion of the application.

When asked what the staff is looking for in an RA applicant Lynch described someone who is “passionate, energetic, hardworking, and wants to help other students.”

She went on to explain that they will not just be looking at people individually, but at the applicant pool as a whole, mentioning that they’re looking for both introverts and extroverts for the staff, since residents will obviously have different personality types that the RAs should be able to relate to.

Further qualifications to be an RA include having lived on campus for at least one semester, a 2.5 GPA or higher, and good judicial standing with the college.

Applications are due January 31st, unless you will be going abroad, in which case the application are due today, December 2nd. Interviews with Residence Life will take place from February 10th-February 21st.

Questions can be directed to Alissa Lynch or Mike Conte and the application can be found on the portal.
