Weekly SGA Wrap-UP: 4/1/14

Due to vast interest of the tenure/promotion discussion, this week’s SGA meeting was held in the Library Lecture Hall. Though the main focus was on tenure, there were also several announcements regarding general campus events and deadlines.

Dr. Joyce De Leo and Dr. Joel Kowit were guest speakers at the SGA meeting, clearing up rumors and addressing questions asked directly from students.

De Leo opened the floor to questions:

Kowit took the floor to go into detail about the promotion and tenure process and answer more questions.  This is Kowit’s second year as chairman and seventh year on the committee.

The committee takes into account at letters sent in from current students and alumni.  According to Kowit, they receive around a dozen, and though their submission limit is 15, they will read everything sent in.  Other than course evaluations, this is the other big way students can have a say on the tenure/promotion process.

Students are urged to contact De Leo with any more questions related to the process.

At this time, the conversation shifted back to normal SGA meeting.  Though many students left, many important dates and events were brought up including:
