Class of 2017: Meet Your SGA Senator Candidates

Presidential Candidate: Lindsay Cathcart

Lindsay Cathcart 17 President

Major:

Biology with concentration in Health Sciences, pre-dental

About Cathcart:

Hometown: Scituate, RI

In addition to being a member of the SGA, I am a general member of the following clubs: EC Support Our Troops, Saints Giving Back, and First Year Focus Leadership Academy. I also work in the chemistry laboratory on campus.

Why do you want the position you’re running for?

I have had the pleasure of serving as the Class of 2017 President for the past year. During my year as Class President, I worked cohesively with the other officers to make sure that the opinions of the First Year Class were well represented in the SGA. In addition to serving as a voting member of the SGA, I became a part of an Ad Hoc committee responsible for allocating funds for school improvements. I also worked closely with the Class of 2016 officers to plan the First Year-Sophomore event Spoons, as well as assisted with planning Sophomore Pinning.

Why are you the best candidate for the position?

I believe that my experiences with the Class of 2016 officers, as well as the other members of the SGA, will help me to make a smooth transition from First Year to Sophomore Class President. If re-elected, I look forward to planning and participating in class traditions, facilitating conversations between the Class of 2017 and the SGA, and continuing to work with the other SGA members to implement improvements on the Emmanuel College campus.
