EC Faces: Moose

This weekend, I had the distinct privilege of sitting down for a Hub exclusive: one-on-one interview with the effortlessly gregarious Moose Berens. Let’s hear what Emmanuel College’s biggest heartthrob has to say about his EC experience.

The Hub: Hi Moose, thanks for taking the time to sit down with the Hub.

Moose: Yeah, no problem.

H: Let’s establish the basics. How old you are?

M: Five and a half. My birthday is April 4.

H: What breed?

M: I am a Leonberger, which originally was a cross between a St. Bernard, Newfoundland and Great Pyranese.

H: Any siblings?

M: I have one sister. Her name is Zoie and she is a 15 year old Himalayan cat. She doesn’t really like me all that much (maybe because I always eat her food), but we coexist pretty well.

H: How tall are you and how much do you weigh?

M: When I stand on my hind legs I’m about 6 feet tall and I weigh around 150lbs, though I’m afraid of the scale at the vet so I don’t know exactly how much I weigh.

H: Incredible. So what does that diet look like?

M: I eat dog food, mostly, but I get a lot of treats while I’m on campus. Most of the leftovers at home end up in my dish, as well, and I love tomatoes!

H: I bet. Where does the name “Moose” come from?

M: My mom named me before they had even met me as a puppy. We go up to New Hampshire in the White Mountains all the time and there is so much moose stuff up there. They named me Moose as a reminder of their favorite place to relax and vacation, and it’s my favorite place now, too.

H: Very cute. What are your feelings towards Emmanuel College?

M: I love Emmanuel College. I get to work with my dad, chase the geese away and meet new, friendly people every day. I get so much attention and so many treats, how could I not love it here?

H: And what does your average day at EC look like?

M: While Matt’s working I’m usually in the facilities office waiting for him to come back. This involves a lot of naps and a lot of treats from Katy.

H: Not a bad life. I hear you have an Instagram. How is that going?

M: My Instagram is going well! I have over 200 followers and I would love to have more! Mooseman526!

H: Impressive. What’s it like for a dog growing up in a city?

M: I love growing up in Boston. There are always so many nice people around who want to come up and say hello and pet me. There are so many great places to go for walks, swim and meet other dogs, too. It’s a pretty dog friendly city!

H: We are all dying to know; where do you see yourself in five years?

M: I see myself still chasing geese, swimming, going for walks, meeting new people, playing with other dogs, drooling, shedding and still acting like goofy guy I am!
