Playlist of the Week

This week’s playlist is all about girl power and bad ass ladies in honor of Malala Yousafzai, a 17 year old Pakistani education activist. Earlier this week, Yousafzai was co-awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work for the advancement of women’s education and child welfare. Yousafzai gained notoriety for protesting her government, for keeping her and other young girls out of school, and surviving an assassination attempt on her life as a result of her protesting.

Check out her interview with Jon Stewart on an episode of the Daily Show from last year.

“I want to tell other children all around the world that they should stand up for their rights. They should not wait for someone else. And their voices are more powerful. It would seem that they’re weak, but at a time when no one speaks, your voice gets so loud that everyone has to listen to it. Everyone has to hear it. […] This award is for all those children who are voiceless.” -Malala Yousafzai
