BREAKING: Shooting at Brigham and Women’s

breaking

UPDATE (12:17pm) – According to WHDH and CBS, the suspect in the shooting has died due to a self inflicted gunshot wound.


UPDATE (12:05pm) – Jack Kelly, Director of Campus Safety, has released a statement about the shooting.

“At approximately 11:20 this morning Campus Safety received information that there had been a shooting incident at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on Francis Street in Boston. Boston Police responded and have taken the shooter into custody. The Hospital is no longer in lock down mode and has returned to normal operation. There still remains a sizable Police presence in the Francis Street area and traffic will be impacted for a while. More information will be provided if warranted. Please contact Campus Safety with any questions that you may have regarding this incident.”


UPDATE: According to CBS Boston, the victim is a male cardiac surgeon. BPD has confirmed that the situation is under control, weapon is secured.

11:39am – One person has life threatening injuries after a shooter opened fire in Brigham & Women’s Hospital on the second floor in the Shapiro building. The shooter was apprehended and is in custody.

The building remains in lock down and hospital is diverting new patients and emergencies to other hospitals. Please be aware of road closures and police presence near campus. Stay tuned for more updates.
