#ECDM15 Raises Record Amount – Again
Since last April, the Dance Marathon team at Emmanuel College has been working to raise money to be donated to Boston Children’s Hospital. This year, over $90,400 was raised, beating their goal of $72,000. They are still receiving money for the 2015 total.
Since its arrival to Emmanuel College in 2012, the event has raised more than $215,000, all of which has been donated to Boston Children’s.
ECDM, as it is called colloquially, started with a group of 12 students: Emily Abelson ‘13, Corey Bailey ‘15, Anna Boutin ‘13, Laura Coughlin ‘14, Douglas Cowing ‘13, Dianne DeStefano ‘12, Kyle Ford-Withrow ‘13, Kate Hope ‘13, Kim Masse ‘13, Kara Moras ‘13, and Morgan Sleight ‘14.
With the help of Kevin Farrell, Director of Student Center Services/Assistant Director of Student Activities, the first Dance Marathon was held in 2012 raising $18,500, $3,500 more than their goal. At the time, this was the the largest amount of money raised in the history of any Boston-run Dance Marathon.
It has become the largest philanthropic event on campus with attendance jumping from 125 to 205 after the first year. in 2014 and 2015 there were 320 students that attended.
In 2013 $41,256.58 were raised, doubling their goal of $20,000.
In 2014 $68,770.29 were raised, beating their goal of $42,000.
