SGA Wrap-Up: November 10, 2015

The SGA meeting on November 10 was short with no finance issues on the agenda.

Wendy LaBron of the Academic Resource Center was on hand to discuss how students can better prepare themselves for work and study; the mail room is piloting extended package pick-up hours; and the amount left to the special funding budget falls under $4,000.

The Emmanuel College Harry Potter Club presented as the annual Club of the Week, telling the SGA details of its first meeting and a potential co-sponsorship with Film Club to screen The Sorcerer’s Stone (2001). The magic begins! The Harry Potter Club nominated EC History Club for the next Spotlight.

Ms. Wendy LaBron next addressed the general assembly for insights into the Emmanuel College ARC, which currently employs 71 certified student tutors. According to LaBron, who recommends working “smarter, not harder,” 81% of undergrads used at least one service of the Academic Resource Center last year.

Class of 2016 President Anastasia Yogas commented that many students don’t know about the wide range of services offered by the ARC such as GRE Test Prep.

Adviser to the SGA Dr. Patricia Rissmeyer unveiled new extended hours for package pick-up available in the Mail Room weekdays from 4-6 PM. The additional hours are subject to change.

Jeffrey Zakrzewski, Executive Director of the Finance Committee, announced that 3,841.41 remains in the special funding budget for the remaining fall.
