SGA Wrap-Up: February 2, 2016

The SGA meeting held on February 2 was short with no major votes or matters on the agenda.

The EC Literary Society, more commonly known as Book Club, was featured in the Club Spotlight after being nominated by Communications Club last week.

Book Club was founded by James Withers ’16 during his freshman year to create a space to discuss books in a non-academic manner. They hold an annual pizza party at the end of each semester and make trips to bookstores around the city. They nominated Philosophy Club for the next Spotlight.

Advisor to the SGA Dan Darcy announced that Founder’s Week is taking place this week. There will be a Founder’s Week Address held on Feb 4 at 12:15PM in the Library Lecture Hall. Other events for Founder’s Week can be found posted around campus as well as on the portal.

Darcy also reminded members that the Academic Expo & Involvement Fair will be taking place Feb 11 from 12PM-2PM in the Auditorium. Clubs still interested in participating or those who have further questions are advised to email Darcy before this Thursday, Feb 4.

The Special Funding Budget was announced at todays meeting. The semester begins with $22,500.00.

Seniors were reminded that their degree applications are due on Feb 16. This is also the tentative date for the Sophomore class fundraiser.

EC Biology Club is hosting a student research assistant panel on Monday, Feb 8 at 6PM in the Library Lecture Hall. Emmanuel Sailing Club will be selling koozies soon, Dance Marathon will have their Spirit Chains on display in the JYC, and EC Political Forum will be hosting more discussions and viewing parties for debates as the political season intensifies.

Catherine Graham ’16 passed the Can-Do Award onto Eric Cote ’18 for keeping meetings on track and always sharing his opinion.
