Meet the New Clubs on Campus

There are several new organizations joining the list of clubs available to Emmanuel College students.

The newly formed Art Club hopes to expand the knowledge of art for anyone who has an interest in it. As an Art Club member, students will have the opportunity to learn about an array of techniques, use new materials, improve artistic ability, and push the boundaries of the creative comfort zone.

Kerina Simonsen, president, hopes Art Club will form a “creative community” that thrives in “artistic activities and bouncing ideas of one another.”

In the coming months, Art Club will be hosting a fundraiser in which students are invited to bring out their inner creativity and decorate a t-shirt.

Another new club at Emmanuel is the Greek Club. Co-presidents Despina Minasidis ’18 and Costa Politis ’18 hope to spread the Greek culture here at Emmanuel as well as the other COF schools.

Minasidis’ goal for the club is to “promote diversity” and says, “We have a love for Greece and want to share it with everyone while connecting to Greeks all over the city of Boston.”

Greek Club has several events coming up, including food tastings and the possibly of marching in Boston’s Greek Independence Day parade on April 3. Greek Club is also working a refugee project, which consists of collecting donations of food, clothing, and other necessities to be sent to the refugees at the island of Levos.

Updated: Italian Club responded on March 21.

“The purpose of Italian Club to educate students on a different culture and to create new connections around the city of Boston and the Italian culture.” said President Jackie Shainis ’17 in an email.

Upcoming events for Italian club include a Cafe Italiana involving a discussion about Italian culture with coffee served and a cooking class where students can make pasta from scratch.
