Farewell to the Current Julie Hall, Hello to an 18-Story Residence Hall

On June 22, Emmanuel College held a blessing ceremony for the site of the current and future Julie Hall. This begins the next phase in construction for an 18-story residence hall scheduled to be completed by Fall 2018.

The ceremony began with a brief history by Sister Janet Eisner, SND.

@EmmanuelAlumni has been tweeting the last week or so with their own memories of Julie Hall. The department encouraged former students to use #JulieHallMemories to share and reminisce as well.

Of course, some students wondered what construction means for the senior week Julie Hall destroyers. On the night of May 11, senior week went too far and major damage was made to the Julie Hall atrium. These actions resulted in a dry Julie for the remainder of senior week, as well as no more social gatherings in the atrium itself. It is unknown how this will affect senior week in years to come. While students did eventually come forward to take the fall, it is unclear whether they had to pay for the damages now that the building is coming down anyway.

Construction, however, was not confirmed at the time of the incident.
