On Friday, October 14, H.U.E.L.L.A.S. hosted their annual Latin Explosion event.
Large crowds gathered in a festive Jean Yawkey Center, which was decked out with streamers, bright colored table clothes, and balloons.
Latin Explosion featured a great amount of talent, including many dancers and musical guests. Boston College’s Latin dance team, Fuego del Corazon, also performed, resulting in a booming applause.
“Fuego del Corazon was my favorite act, they performed really well. I’m Puerto Rican so I appreciate their good dancing!” Jaxell Negron ’19 said.
The crowd was encouraged join in on the dancing as well, allowing all spectators to be immersed in the latin dancing.
“I was really in the mood to come out and dance so this was a good way to have fun after a long week,” said Negron ’19.
Besides the talent, which was broken up with trivia and prizes, a main aspect of the night was the food, which was a big hit among the many students attending.
“The food and the music were the best parts! It’s a great event, I love it,” said Savannah Cardoso ’18.
Providing main course dishes as well as a variety of Latin American pastries, people were very impressed with the food.
“I love this event! The food was great and I loved seeing everyone dance,” said Sarah Tran ’19.
“My favorite part was seeing all the families bonding during the event,” said Maha Abdallah ’19. Latin Explosion took place during Parents’ Weekend this year.
