SGA Wrap Up: October 18th, 2016

The Student Government Association (SGA) meeting held on October 18 featured Robin Fortado, the General Manager for Bon Appetit, what was present to discuss questions that have been brought to their attention.

The meeting began with the total Student Activities Fund (SAF) amounts. SAF requests from last week totaled out to $4,021.98 and the new SAF total is $45, 469.84.

EC’s Political Forum was this week’s Club Spotlight. They meet every Tuesday at 7pm to discuss various political topics. Their discussions are open to all majors.

They thanked H.U.E.L.L.A.S for nominating them and nominated Emmanuel College Youth in Government for next week.

Up next was Bon Appetit. The first question Robin Fortado answered was, “Why do students have to ask for to-go cups now?” She responded saying that individuals were using them within the dining hall and then throwing them away. It was a sustainability concern.

Another question that was addressed was, “Do all Bon Appetit pesto products contain nuts?” Fortado’s response was no, and if it did it would say “pine nut pesto.” All foods with nuts will have them listed clearly in the name. Allergens will also be listed.

Fortado also noted that if students put their own money into flex dollars, they will receive a 10 percent bonus. According to Fortado, students without meal plans can add flex dollars to their accounts.

Following the discussion about guest passes and student’s confusion on the topic at the SGA meeting, Bon Appetit set up a table outside of the dining hall during dinner. Students were able to pick up their guest passes here so when they do have guests eat at Emmanuel, they do not have to pay for them using flex dollars.
