SGA Wrap Up: November 1, 2016

The Student Government Association (SGA) meeting held on November 1, included discussion about the Emmanuel Admissions process and featured requests from clubs and commuters.

The meeting began with Dr.Rissmeyer wanting to discuss the level of conversation among students talking about the election around campus. The overall consensus was that individuals have polarized views, and are very one-sided.

After the Advisor Reports, Sandy Robbins from The Office of Admissions presented general information about the admissions process and requirements of students when they are applying the Emmanuel.

Admissions is responsible for both recruiting and enrolling students.

Next up was event requests. Emmanuel College’s Support our Troops was at the meeting to request $2,387.60 for their trip to NYC for Veteran’s Day to visit the 9/11 memorial.

The Senate approved their request in full.

The next request was from Michael Hogarty ’19, the SGA Executive Commuter Representative. The commuters requested $5,300.86 for more locker space to store their belongings while on campus.

There would be 102 new lockers after the renovation. The request was approved in full.

This week’s Club Spotlight was the Resident Hall Association.

They have been very successful with their seasonal events, including their candy apple night, which was a huge hit. The RHA’s entire executive board is also brand new.
