One of Emmanuel’s most popular events occurred on Tuesday night, December 1. Emmanuel College Programming Board (ECPB) put on a Willy Wonka themed Moonlight Breakfast to celebrate the end of the semester.
“We wanted something different but fun this year for the theme,” said ECPB member Renee Contino ’17. “Willy Wonka had all the candy and colors which is fun, and golden tickets could be easily hidden around campus.”
Golden tickets, found hidden around campus as well as hidden in many balloons throughout the cafeteria, were used by students to redeem a free t-shirt.
“We also wanted to recreate the candy and milkshake bar,” Contino continued.
In addition to candy and milkshakes, elaborate breakfast foods were served, including crème brûlée french toast, cheesy scrambled eggs, and breakfast pastries.
“I’m just excited about the food in general,” said Priya Sharma ’19. “It’s not every day you’re encouraged to eat a lot of sugar so just have to embrace it.”
The night was kept alive with an upbeat playlist, consisting of Avril Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi,” The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside,” R Kelly’s “Ignition Remix,” plus many more.
“It’s so entertaining to see all of Emmanuel come out to dance and sing together,” said Sarah Bradley ’19 while watching people leave their seats to get up and dance to Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love.”
“It’s also a nice reason to take a break from studying for finals,” Bradley said.
Falling on the eve of Reading Day, Moonlight Breakfast gives students a fun, last event of the semester before the start of finals.
