SGA Wrap Up: March 28, 2017

The Student Government Association (SGA) meeting held on March 28 centered around updates on events around campus. It also included a presentation from the Asian Student Association (ASA).

The meeting began with voting on the tabled Constitution amendments. The proposed Executive Representative of Diversity and Inclusion, a widely debated position, had not been voted on.

Devin Gilmore ’18, President of the SGA, noted that there are no stipulations towards whether or not the individual upholding this position would have to be apart of a marginalized population. This decision was made based off the difficulty of pinpointing what the marginalized population at Emmanuel College is.

By a show of hands, the position passed with 14 members voting yes, two voting no, and two abstaining.

Next in the meeting was Advisory Reports with Dr.Rissmeyer, Vice President for Student Affairs.

Next up was Major Event Requests from Emmanuel’s a cappella group, Acapocalypse.

Next, the Asian Student Association gave a presentation on their recent trip to the East Coast Asian American Student Union (ECAASU) Conference in North Carolina.

The meeting ended with Executive and Class Updates.
