Athletics Recap: 10/2 – 10/8

The first week of October is in the books for the Saints.

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country:

Both squads were off this week and will be back in action on Friday for the Saints Invitational at Franklin Park.

Women’s Soccer (6-6-1):

The Saints faced Lasell on October 4, where they were defeated 6-0. They bounced back on Saturday, beating Mount Ida 3-1. Kayla Generis ’19 racked up a goal and an assist with the other two goals coming from Mikayla Guthrie ’19 and Abba McKennelly ’19. The Saints will go on to face Rivier University on Wednesday.

Men’s Soccer (1-5-6):

The men also had two games this week. They first faced Albertus Magnus, coming out with a 1-1 tie. Travis Cole ’19 scored the lone goal for the Saints. They went on to play GNAC rival, Suffolk University on Saturday where they also ended 1-1. Jack O’Connor ’21 was the scorer for the Saints this time around. Jonathan Ferrarini ’20 kept his team alive as the Saints were outshot 17-10. The men’s team will be back on Wednesday to host St. Joseph’s.

Women’s Volleyball (6-13):

The Saints faced the Keene State Owls on Wednesday and MIT on Thursday where they went down 3-0 in both matches. They went on to play in a tri-match against St. Joseph’s and Salve Regina on Saturday. They came out with the win against St. Joseph’s 3-1. Mary Shelow ’19 lead her team yet again in kills. Carly Church ’19 also had a great game posting up 40 assists and 13 digs. The team went on to face Salve Regina where they lost 3-0. The Saints will be back in action on Thursday looking to get back on track against Rivier University.

Men’s Golf:

The Saints faced Dean, Michell, and Fisher College at the Saints Invitational on Tuesday, finishing third in the match. Colin Cordero ’18 finished with the best score for EC with a 78. They’ll be back next weekend for a two-day match hosted by University of Southern Maine Fall Classic at Gorham Country Club starting on Sunday.
