Letter from the Editor: Changes to the Editorial Board for the Spring 2018 Semester

Since I’ll be graduating early in December and one of our e-board members is studying abroad, there will be a few changes to The Hub’s e-board next semester.

Our current Assistant Managing Editor, Emery Veilleux ’20, will be in South Africa for the spring of 2018. This means that one of our current executive board members will be fulfilling those responsibilities until she is back for the fall. The full details of this will be announced in the coming weeks.

Current Managing Editor, Haley Biermann ’19, was elected to fill the EIC role which made way for Devin Nelson ’19 to move into her position. Here’s an opportunity for readers to get to know more about them:

Haley Biermann ’19

Editor-in-Chief Elect (President)

“I am currently a junior and have been writing for The Hub since I came to Emmanuel as a freshman in 2015. I am majoring in Writing, Editing, and Publishing with a minor in Communication and Media Studies. The Hub has helped me to grow as a writer far more than I could ever have imagined walking into my first general meeting, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be the editor-in-chief of this publication! I can’t wait to work with a fantastic team that will continue to bring objective journalism to Emmanuel students, faculty, and staff, as well as provide a voice to all members within the Emmanuel community. Please feel free to contact me at”

Devin Nelson ’19

Managing Editor Elect (Vice President)

“As the new Managing Editor and Vice President of The Hub, I am incredibly grateful and excited to work alongside Haley for the next couple years. I began as a staff writer my second semester of Sophomore year unprepared and nervous to join Emmanuel’s publication, but eager to contribute. After writing pieces regarding various panels and discussions regarding social and political issues, among others, I have gained wonderful experience that will help drive our school’s publication to produce well-rounded and entertaining pieces.”

Getting to know these writers during my time with The Hub has been great and I’m extremely confident in their ability to keep the college’s community up to date on what’s happening on campus. These two will begin taking on the responsibilities of their new roles for these last few weeks of the semester with me by their side before fully taking over the publication in January.

Merisa Boyd ’18 is the Editor-in-Chief of The Hub. She can be contacted at or on Twitter @merisafaith.
