Barn Babies Visit Emmanuel

Emmanuel College held a petting zoo through the Barn Babies Traveling Petting Zoo on Nov. 28 in the Jean Yawkey Center (JYC).

Lines stretched around the JYC as students waited to play with the many animals avaliable. Barn Babies brought kittens, bunnies, puppies, chickens, a goat, and a pig for students to hold and play with.

This is the second year Barn Babies has come to Emmanuel.

“I loved how happy it made everyone last year, especially during the stressful time of finals,” said Meg Larkin ’19. “I really wanted to bring the program back this year and have it avaliable for a long stretch of time so everyone could come and enjoy it.”

Larkin ’19 organized the program.  It was hosted by Residence Life, the Office of Student Activities and Multicultural Programs, Student Affairs, and the JYC.

There was overwhelming support for the program from the students participating in the petting zoo. Many students went through the line multiple times to spend as much time as possible with the animals.

“These are probably some of the cutest animals I have ever seen in my life,” said Francesca Battiato ’19, while holding a swaddled bunny.

Students excitedly took pictures and hugged the animals to enjoy a break from the end of semester stress.

“I have so much work to do but I am not even stressed because I am holding a baby bunny so things are ok right now,” said Ashley Paleski ’19.
