Season 2 of The Spirit Chronicles: What We’ve Learned So Far

With successful anime series like “Isekai Quartet” and “KonoSuba,” the isekai genre has enjoyed a surge in popularity among anime lovers. We like the thought of being transported to a fantastical world where castles stand in for skyscrapers and dragons fly in place of planes. It can be tough for new anime series in the genre to stand out due to the recent growth in the number of isekai works. This was attempted by “Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles” when it premiered earlier this year.

Yuri Kitayama, the creator of the light novel series, is the inspiration for the anime. He awakens in another reality, but he also shares his consciousness with another person in the series. An episode of “Spirit Chronicles” makes light work of the isekai genre’s standard approach to reincarnation, which generally boils down in the first episode. By the time “Spirit Chronicles” wraps out its first season, there will undoubtedly be more questions than answers. However, thanks to the upcoming second season, we’ll be able to receive some answers.

Everything we know so far about Season 2 of “Spirit Chronicles”

What is the release date for Season 2 of Spirit Chronicles?

In September 2021, “Spirit Chronicles” Season 1 came to an end. Despite the fact that the show’s 12-episode run has left many viewers eager for more, the wait for the next season is likely to be a long one. It was announced on November 5, 2021, via the anime series’ official Twitter account that a second season was in the works. It was announced via a tweet that included a Season 1 review video. However, there was no formal release date attached to it.

Anime News Network broke the news of the first season of “Spirit Chronicles” being revealed in late November of 2020. The show is set to premiere in July of the following year, in July of 2021. We could see a duplicate of Season 2 coming out in the summer of 2022, if Season 2’s announcement occurred in November. Season 2 of “Spirit Chronicles” will most likely be released in the West through Crunchyroll. When Season 1 was first aired in Japan, the streaming service did a simulcast of the episode and published an official English version on December 27, 2021.

Season 2 of Spirit Chronicles will feature a new cast of characters.

Haruto Amakawa and Rio are the protagonists of the first season of “Spirit Chronicles” via Crunchyroll. A horrible road accident claims the life of Haruto, a young Japanese man. Rio, a young man in a fantasy world, is orphaned after his mother is brutally murdered. It appears as though the two personalities are one and the same, or at the very least they have the same thought processes. Rio appears to be a reincarnation of Haruto after discovering his prior life’s traits and memories.

Both protagonists will be back in Season 2 as they continue to investigate their individual problems. As Rio’s former teacher Celia Claire and his contracted spirit Aishia return in Season 2, we can expect them to appear again. However, there is one figure who fans are certain to be eager to see back. Rio runs upon Haruto’s childhood buddy Miharu Ayase at the end of Season 1, who has somehow been transported from present-day Japan. We can undoubtedly expect Miharu to play a large role in the upcoming season, given how important she was to Haruto.

What is the storyline of Season 2 of Spirit Chronicles?

Rio’s life and dealing with the knowledge that Haruto is related to him are the main subject of “Spirit Chronicles” Season 1. Rio intervenes in the arranged marriage of his coworker Celia in the Season 1 finale. More people from his world have also been reborn into Haruto’s reality, he discovers. You can rest assured that Season 2 will shed more light on how Rio became tied to Haruto. Rio’s connection to Haruto could possibly be explored in Season 2, given he has become so powerful since discovering it.

When it comes to “Spirit Chronicles” Season 2, the original light novels provide a wealth of material for the show’s plot. For Season 1 of “Spirit Chronicles,” Monsters And Critics reports that the light novels were covered up to Volume 5. In the fall of this year, the 20th volume of the light novels was released (via Firecross). As a result, the series will have a larger pool of material from which to draw inspiration in the years to come.
