The Following Contains Mindhunter Spoilers.
When Mindhunter’s second season premiered on Netflix in August 2019, viewers wasted no time in tearing through all nine episodes of the David Fincher-produced series at a breakneck pace before looking ahead to the show’s future.
When Netflix promised that a special David Fincher announcement would take place on October 13, it looked like the third season might finally be on the way.

Fans speculated that a third season will be announced.
However, actor Holt McCallany recently told Pop Culture that he hopes for not only a third season but two more as well.
However, as previously said, “on pause” does not imply cancellation, as Fincher himself stated in November 2020 that he is not yet through with the program.
“I’d like to revisit it at some point,” he told Variety. “The goal was to get all the way up to the late ’90s and early 2000s, and hopefully up to people banging on Dennis Rader’s door.”
Those remarks followed an interview with Vulture in which he sounded more pessimistic. “We didn’t have a showrunner for the first season of Mindhunter, so I was pinch-hitting on a week-by-week basis,” Fincher explained.
“We started getting scripts for the second season, and I ended up looking over them and determining that none of them appealed to me.”
“We’re hoping to do all five seasons,” he said, “since the audience seems to have really responded to the show, and people truly like the show.”
We all know Netflix isn’t scared to cancel great shows, but the cancellation of Mindhunter may be the final straw for many of the service’s users.
“Mindhunter is Fincher to me.” For me, the entire experience was an honor and privilege to work with him. So, I’m not a big sports fan, but it reminds me of the [1997-1998] Chicago Bulls. Do you intend to stay with the team for another season? Or do you simply follow the general manager’s orders?
Small Screen recently reported that it hadn’t been ruled out, citing a source as saying, “All I can really tell you regarding Mindhunter is that negotiations between Netflix and Fincher are ongoing.” They’re debating whether or not to renew the show for a third season.
“Though it’s still early in the process, Fincher appears to be more enthusiastic about the project.”
Let’s hope Fincher doesn’t wait too long to reassemble his crack crew, or else they’ll be too preoccupied with other projects to return to the serial killer series for another season.
While actor McCallany has been concentrating on movies since the last season of Mindhunter (he can be seen in Guillermo Del Toro’s drama Nightmare Alley), Anna Torv is devoted to filming the HBO series.
When Can We Expect the Third Season of Mindhunter to Air?
Season one premiered in October 2017, but we had to wait until August 2019 for the second installment, which was excruciating.
Mindhunter necessitates a high amount of intricacy and study, so even if it returns – a big if, as stated above – we’ll be waiting a long time.
Who’s in the Cast of Mindhunter Season 3?
We may expect to see Ford (Groff) and Tench (Holt McCallany) back on our screens if the show is renewed.
Groff told TV Insider, “We’re kind of like the strange pair.” “I believe. Holt and I had a lot of fun together playing with the odd couple dynamic because he and I are so different in so many ways, both as characters and as people, and we had a lot of fun with that relationship.”
Bill’s wife Nancy (Stacey Roca), FBI Chief Ted Gunn (Michael Cerveris), Bill and Nancy’s adopted son Brian (Zachary Scott Ross), and the ‘BTK killer Dennis Rader are all anticipated to attend with them (Sonny Valicenti).
Groff is a man of many talents.
However, if the general manager believes it should be stopped, you must agree with him. And I feel the same way about David. I’ll be there in a flash if he says he wants to do another one. But I trust his judgment and instincts, so I leave it in his hands at all times.
“Fincher’s world is unlike any other I’ve ever seen or will ever see. I’m confident in my assertion. When you’re on another set, it’s wonderful to be in the mind of another filmmaker, experiencing another experience, or watching another TV show, but there’s something truly unique about what David does.”
Groff is undoubtedly hoping for Damon Herriman’s success.
How Many Episodes Will There Be in the Third Season of Mindhunter?
Season one had 10 episodes, whereas season two had one less.
We’d expect something in the same ballpark if there’s a third.
