It’s only fitting that anime introduces a fascinating harem series with angels and devils. For several seasons, the anime series High School DxD has been doing just that. The anime is based on a series of light novels written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero, which were initially published in 2008. The first season of the anime series aired in 2012, and the second season premiered in 2013.
High School DxD follows Issei Hyoudou, a second-year high school student who is a bit of a pervert. Hyoduo’s ambition is to become a harem king. Unfortunately, his first date, who turns out to be a fallen angel, kills the student.
Issei is later resurrected by Rias Gremory, a devil who also happens to be the most beautiful student in Issei’s school. Issei now has to work as an underling for Rias as a result of his resurrection.
High School DxD’s four seasons of supernatural adventure/comedy hijinks, as well as the show’s memorable characters, have been well received by fans.
It’s no surprise that the next book in the series is in high demand. So it’s a good thing that the fifth season of High School DxD has been confirmed by The Cine Talk. Here’s all we know about season 5 of High School DXD thus far.
When will High School DxD season 5 be released?
The bad news is that no official release date for High School DxD Season 5 has been announced as of yet. The new season of the anime series was originally scheduled to release in 2020, according to The Cine Talk. COVID-19, however, threw a kink in those preparations, as it did with many other anime releases.

Ichieie Ishibumi, the original High School DxD light book author, confirmed that season 5 of the series is still in the works via Otaku Kart. He also encouraged fans to buy and read more of the light novel series, as increased sales of the novel might help the anime series continue to be produced.
If Season 5 of High School DxD airs this year, it would most likely air during the fall anime season. As a result, the release date for this season is likely to be in July.
Who’s in the cast for High School DxD season 5?
The official cast for High School DxD Season 5 has yet to be announced, but according to The Cinemaholic, the cast from the previous season of High School DxD: Hero is expected to return. Yuki Kaji portrays Issei Hyoudou, Ayana Taketaksu portrays Koneko Toujou, Yoko Hikasa portrays Rias Gremory, Shizuka Ito portrays Akeno Himejima, and Azumi Asakura portrays Asia Argento.
Season 5 will very certainly have the same animation studio crew as the previous season. Studio TNK was responsible for the first three seasons of High School DxD. Season 4 was directed by Yoshifumi Sueda and produced by studio Passione.

Many fans were taken aback by the sudden shift in studios and style, and some were not thrilled with it. In fact, some fans have started a petition to return the show to its original format from seasons 1 to 3. However, it’s likely that Passione and Sueda will continue to work on High School DxD Season 5’s animation.
What is the plot of High School DxD season 5?
Season 5 of High School DxD has no official plot outline. According to The Cinemaholic, anime series typically follow the same plot route as light book series. Season 4, for example, was based on volumes 9 and 10 of the light novels. As Issei challenged Sairong in the previous season, the action picked up.
Issei also used The Cardinal Crimson Promotion, which is a fantastic and powerful power-up for his Scale Mail. Season 4 did, however, provide viewers with some much-anticipated romance, as Issei and Rias eventually enjoyed their first kiss. In short, Season 4 had a lot to offer, but it also appeared to finish up nicely.
An adaptation of volumes 11 and 12 of the light novel series is likely to be at the focus of Season 5. That means testing for Issei. The Middle-Class Promotion Test will be a challenge for Issei.
If Issei passes this test, he will be placed slightly above low-class, which is the ranking used to indicate a Devil’s strength. But, in addition to the tests, Issei will have to deal with Koneko, who has discovered how close Issei has been with Rias and isn’t happy about it.
When Season 5 eventually airs, it appears that Issei and her companions will have enough to do.
