Valerie Bertinelli is calling her marriage to Tom Vitale “Valerie Margulis.” (We’ve been watching “Game of Thrones” again.)

Bertinelli, 61, filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, according to TMZ, which broke the news first. The “Hot in Cleveland” actress married Vitale on New Year’s Day in 2011 and now blames her divorce on the “Old Faithful” of celebrity divorces: “irreconcilable differences.

It appears that it will be a relatively clean break: They have no children together, and her filing requested that neither of them gets spousal assistance in the future. They also had a prenuptial agreement in place to handle asset division.

From 1981 to 2001, she was married to guitar legend Eddie Van Halen. (In 2007, their divorce was formalized.) When Eddie died in October 2020 after a lengthy fight with illness, the cast of “One Day at a Time” remained close to him, sharing a trove of wonderful memories from their time together. Bertinelli and Vitale’s wedding was even attended by the shredder.
