For many years, Sony‘s incredible catalogue of console-exclusive games was one of the most persuasive arguments for choosing the PlayStation over the Xbox system. “God of War,” “Infamous,” “The Last of Us,” and “Spider-Man” are just a few of the properties that have contributed to the development of the PlayStation family of consoles’ brand identity over the years.

Although they are among the most popular, they are not the only ones that have constantly attracted athletes to the Sony camp. Since the first “Uncharted” game was launched in 2007, Naughty Dog‘s “Uncharted” titles have been available only on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Three mainline games were developed for the PlayStation 3, however just one mainline game and one side game were developed for the PlayStation 4. Fans, on the other hand, are excited to see if they will be treated to the next chapter in the journey now that the PS5 has arrived.

Overview

For a long time, it was unknown whether or not there would be another instalment in the series. “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” appeared to bring the story of protagonist Nathan Drake to a close, and while “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy” saw Drake’s former partner Chloe Frazer take over the leading role, it was unclear whether this was just for a single side game or if she would become the series’ new permanent face.

Despite the fact that it is still unclear who will be playing as the protagonist or whether the Next Uncharted game will be a mainline entry in the series, according to a report from Bloomberg, fans will most likely find out sooner rather than later — though it may take a while.

It’s Possible That an Untitled Uncharted Game Is on the Way.

It was primarily the subject of the Bloomberg piece from Jason Schreier, who discussed all of the ways that Sony’s emphasis on generating blockbuster-quality exclusives was causing friction inside the company’s numerous production teams.

After failing to obtain approval for a “Day’s Gone” sequel, the report stated that “instead, one team at the studio was allocated to assist Naughty Dog with a multiplayer game while a second group was assigned to work on an Uncharted game with supervision from Naughty Dog.

” There was no mention of what kind of “Uncharted” game the team was working on or what level of development it was at in the article, but it appeared that the project had not progressed much further than it had started.

Bend was anxious that it will be subsumed into Naughty Dog and lose its autonomy as a result of the departure of numerous employees. Sony eventually decided to withdraw the crew from the project in order to focus on developing a game that would be the first instalment of a brand new franchise.

Uncharted’s Long-term Viability Is in Doubt.

However, while the story created more concerns than it did answers, Schreier did provide some clarifications in a subsequent appearance as a guest on the MinnMax Show Podcast. According to Schreier, “this is a game that was, like, four or five years away at that moment.” When questioned by the show’s host if he knew where the project was now at, Schreier responded, “I don’t know.”

“I’m not sure if it really exists. I mean, that was a Bend-related undertaking. Naughty Dog was only sort of keeping an eye on things. I’m assuming it’ll simply vanish into thin air. It was originally intended to be a spin-off of the “Uncharted” series. It wasn’t like playing a game like ‘Uncharted 5’ or anything like that.” He went on to explain that it didn’t matter whether or not that particular version of the game survived because it was still at such an early stage of development in any case.

However, this does not rule out the possibility of a recovery. With certainty, Schreier stated that “additional Uncharted games will be released in the future.” “It’s just that we don’t know how long that particular one will last.”

Still up in the air is when the next Uncharted game will be released, who will take on the role of the series’ new face, and whether the next title will be the series’ fifth major instalment or another side game. Sony and Naughty Dog are both keeping their mouths shut regarding the entire franchise. For the time being, fans may look forward to the “Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection,” which, according to the PlayStation Blog, will be released somewhere in early 2022 and will be available on both the PlayStation 5 and the PC.

Plot

Chloe Frazer (Claudia Black) is a treasure hunter in India who is on a quest to find the famous tusk of Ganesh, the son of Hindu god Shiva, who lost the tusk while defending his father’s temple. In the course of looking for the tusk, Chloe’s own father was slaughtered by bandits. Chloe manages to sneak past militants and come face to face with mercenary Nadine Ross (Laura Bailey).

Asav (Usman Ally), the leader of the insurgents and an old acquaintance of Nadine, wants to use the tusk to rally India into a civil war, and the two of them infiltrate his headquarters. Chloe and Nadine steal a map pointing to the tusk’s location within the old Hoysala Empire, as well as a disc that serves as a key to unlock the map.

Chloe and Nadine travel to India’s Western Ghats, where they trace the route of various towers engraved with Hindu weaponry, including Ganesh’s trident, Shiva’s bow, and the axe of Parashurama, who used the axe to remove the tusk from the elephant.

The trail leads them to Halebidu, one of Hoysala’s two capitals, which was left to be overrun by the Persians allegedly out of vanity by the last emperor of the kingdom. They discover that the emperor had left a false trail, and that the tusk is located at the older capital of Belur. They manage to get away from Asav and his men on the way there, but they lose the disc.

Final words

While spying on Asav’s men, Nadine comes face to face with her former adversary Samuel Drake (Troy Baker), who she recognises as Asav’s subject matter specialist. When she professes her desire to kill Sam, primarily as a result of the events that transpired in Libertalia, Chloe admits that she had been collaborating with him prior to his abduction from his home. Nadine departs from Chloe because she feels betrayed and angry, but the two eventually reconcile.
