What Can We Expect From the Second Season of Barbarians?

The following is an outline of what we might expect from season 2 of Stranger Things, courtesy of a recent Netflix Germany release:’A year after the Battle of Varus, the Roman legions have returned to Germania, stronger than ever, and Ari finds himself once more confronted with the ghosts of his Roman past. Because Ari betrayed Rome, his brother has joined the Roman side in order to punish Ari for his actions. Thusnelda and Ari are attempting to unite the tribes in opposition to Rome, while Folkwin issues a frightening challenge to the gods.”

We’ve also heard a lot of conjecture about what we can expect from season 2, which is exciting. From the conclusion of the first season of Barbarians, there was a lot to think about. We also know what to expect from a prospective second season, according to the lessons of the past.

Is there a Barbarian King?

As a result of their efforts, Arminius and Thusnelda were successful in unifying the Germanic tribes under a single banner in order to confront the three Roman Legions. The ambush was a resounding success, and the Roman Empire suffered a terrible defeat as a result.

While still reeling from the aftermath of a major victory, it is becoming more and more likely that Arminius and Thusnelda will be crowned King and Queen of the Tribes, respectively. It goes without saying that conflict at home is likely to occur. Thusnelda’s father is conniving with Hadgan, the man she used to be engaged to. The pair intends to strike when Arminius is least expecting it in order to seize control of the situation.

Is Rome’s Wrath Upon Us?

Even though the conflict with Rome is far from done, there are still plenty more battles to be fought in the future, according to historical records. While Arminius and the Germanic tribes are occupied with eliminating the remainder of the Romans from their positions east of the Rhine, the Emperor of Rome, Tiberius, will be busy putting up another army. More legions of Romans, led by Germanicus, will be on their way to battle Arminius in the near future.

Folkwin Wolfspeer’s Betrayal, or Something Else?

Folkwin has grown further estranged from the two as a result of his nearly becoming a slave for the Romans and the loss of Thusnelda to Arminius. Although Arminius offered to create Folkwin a prince in the event of his coronation as King, the latter saw this as an insult and declared his intention to assassinate Arminius in the event that he is crowned King of the Germans.

Arminius’ ambition has a wild card in the form of Folkwin. Folkwin is responsible for the fact that Arminius is still alive, not to mention the fact that he was the one who spread the myth that Thusnelda was connected to the gods. Both of these activities have culminated in the marriage of his former closest friend and his former sweetheart, therefore uniting the tribes and maybe establishing themselves as the next king and queen.
