Comic and anime are inextricably linked, and it can take years for a fan-favorite manga to be converted into a television series or a movie, depending on how popular the manga is.
That was not the case in the instance of “Jujutsu Kaisen.”

Original publication date: 2018. The dark fantasy novel “Jujutsu Kaisen” was first released in 2018. It is set in a world where “Curse,” or bad spirits, are rampant and individuals learn to become sorcerers in order to be able to battle them. In the series, a teenage kid named Yuji Itadori saves his friends by swallowing a cursed object, which causes him to become the host of a curse known as Sukuna, which he then passes on to his companions.
In less than a year following the manga’s publication, an anime adaptation was announced, and in October 2020, the first 24 episodes of “Jujutsu Kaisen” began showing on MBS and TBS in Asia, with the remaining episodes eventually being made available on Crunchyroll in other parts of the world.
Preview
The season finale will air on March 27, 2021, according to the schedule. It is directed by Sunghoo Park, who has previously worked on such projects as “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood,” “Garo: Divine Flame,” and others, and it is produced by MAPPA, the animation company that also worked on the new “Yasuke” anime for Netflix as well as the television series “Yuri on Ice.”
The first season of “Jujutsu Kaisen” was extremely highly received, with an 8.7 rating on IMDb at the time of this writing. One of the primary reasons the series was so well-received was due to the deep and realistic characters — particularly those of the female kind — that it featured. “Jujutsu Kaisen” is a component of the shonen genre of anime, which has historically been highly sexist, but the “narrative allows [its female characters] to dissent and battle for their ideas and their place,” according to the anime’s official website (via Polygon).
Considering its overall impact on the world of anime, “Jujutsu Kaisen” has already made a significant impact, and fans of the series are eagerly awaiting any word of a second season.
When Will the Second Season of Jujutsu Kaisen Begin Airing?
A film titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will be released in the near future, according to the makers of the anime series “Jujutsu Kaisen,” which concluded its first season this past summer. It was also revealed that the film would include a prequel plot dubbed “Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School,” which follows the exploits of two characters named Yuta Okkotsu and Rika Orimoto in a technical school in Tokyo. The news was accompanied by the release of a brief trailer, as well as a tentative release date of winter 2022.
But what about the second season of “Jujutsu Kaisen”?
As it happens, during an online news conference in January, Yichi Mushiaki, president of the MBS television channel in Japan, gave fans a glimmer of optimism for the series’ future. According to Anime News Network, he stated, “At this point, I’d ask you all to hold off until we can lay out a definite strategy for you to follow.” However, I believe we will be able to deliver a development that will exceed expectations.”
A few weeks after those remarks were made, it was formally declared that Season 2 of “Jujutsu Kaisen” will be published sometime in 2023, as previously stated (via Crunchyroll). Fans of “Jujutsu Kaisen” can at least rest easy knowing that a second season of the programme is on the way. No exact date has been given for the show’s comeback, but fans of the show can at least rest easy knowing that a second season is on the way.
What Characters Will Be Featured in Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen?
In order to continue the story of Season 1, the second season of “Jujutsu Kaisen” will most likely have the majority of the same cast as Season 1. In particular, Junya Enoki appears as Yuji, the protagonist who accepts a quest to find all of Sukuna’s pieces, spoken by Junichi Suwabe, with the understanding that he will have to sacrifice himself in order to destroy Sukuna in the end.
The characters that fight alongside Yuji are Megumi (Yuma Uchida), an unyielding sorceress who must join forces with Yuji, and Nobara (Asami Seto), a headstrong young woman who is a formidable opponent. Satoru (Yuichi Nakamura), on the other hand, is the most powerful sorcerer in the area and is a teacher at Jujutsu High, where the three friends practise.
As the universe of “Jujutsu Kaisen” continues to expand with the release of the new movie and subsequent episodes, it is quite likely that the show will introduce new characters, whether through new Curses, new sorcerers, or just normal old humans that Yuji encounters.
In the future, this will open the way for many talented voice actors to join the cast of the programme.
What Will Be the Focus of Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen chronicles Yuji’s first contact with Sukuna and how he becomes entangled with the Jujutsu School and sorcerers throughout Season 1.
Through the first season, the tale progresses through a series of confrontations in which the show’s characters face off against Curses in their pursuit of Sukuna’s pieces. At the same time, Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara are faced with a variety of personal obstacles, including arguments over each other’s skills and morals, as well as the emotional toll that killing Curses has taken on their lives.
Yuji and Nobara vanquish the Death Paintings, two human brothers who have transformed into Curses, towards the conclusion of the first season. Yuji also re-connects with one of his former classmates, Yuko, who has developed a romantic interest in him.
Final Remarks
Based on the events shown in the manga, it appears reasonable to presume that Season 2 of “Jujutsu Kaisen” will cover the “Shibuya Incident” story arc. This series follows a group of sorcerers, lead by Yuji, as they combat a well-coordinated campaign by Curses and other evil forces to eliminate any who stand in their way.
