Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022. It was initially due out on November 5, 2021, however, it was pushed back owing to the ongoing pandemic.
Thor 4 was later penciled in for a May 2022 release but, once Marvel Studios stated that it was delaying all of its forthcoming films back in October 2021, its release date was moved again. Thankfully, its launch date hasn’t been postponed, so you may start to get pumped for its arrival this summer.
Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer
After months of waiting, fans were ecstatic to see the first teaser for Thor: Love and Thunderstorm online on Monday, April 18.
The 90-second teaser is exactly that – i.e. a teaser. However, it gives us a thorough glance at what the movie will feature, including a number of returning characters, its plot (more on this later), new locations, and much more.
The trailer opens with a montage of a young Thor sprinting through an Asgardian forest, the God of Thunder growing up as he passes a number of trees positioned near to the camera. “These hands were previously employed for battle,” Thor adds over the top of the next pieces of footage.

“Now they’re simply humble tools for peace,” he continues as he plants Stormbreaker, his latest weapon, in the ground before adding: “I need to figure out exactly who I am”. Expect Thor to go on a journey of self-discovery in what’s been a long overdue coming-of-age tale for him.
The rest of the trailer – set to Guns ‘n’ Roses’ Sweet Child of Mine – exposes lots of blinks and you’ll miss its shots, but they’re all quite essential. We catch the first glimpse of Russell Crowe’s Zeus playing to the Olympus crowd, Thor and new best bud Korg embarking on a buddy cop-style cosmic adventure, King Valkyrie looking less than wowed as she regulations over New Asgard and some funny moments with the Guardians of the Galaxy, who are sure to have more than a supporting role in proceedings.
Of course, Thor’s goal to become a transformed man (or should that be a god?) won’t go entirely to plan. The teaser’s last seconds are saved for the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, who is now holding Thor’s formally destroyed hammer Mjolnir — much to the Norse God’s shock – as the Mighty Thor. Expect their reunion to be tense and heartbreaking as the plot continues.
Disappointingly, there’s no trace of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, but we assume we’ll be seeing him in the film’s official trailer in the near future. Let’s just be glad that a teaser was released at all, what with MCU fans’ mounting dissatisfaction over a lack of a trailer revelation until lately.
Still, while we’ve had to wait for our first look at Thor: Love and Thunder, it seems like Marvel’s executive staff is thrilled with what they’ve seen in-house. According to famed source BigScreenLeaks, the film was tested internally sometime in March, and those in attendance appreciated what they saw. If that doesn’t get more enthusiastic, we’re not sure what will.

In Thor: Love and Thunder, What Is the Plot of the Story About?
Marvel Studios has released the official synopsis of the film, courtesy of a press release: Chris Hemsworth stars Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder, which takes the character on a voyage of self-discovery. However, the assassin Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), on a mission to exterminate the gods, interrupts his retirement.
King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and Thor’s ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) join forces to fight the menace, with Jane Foster wielding Mjolnir, Thor’s magical hammer, mysteriously. In order to understand the secret of the God Butcher’s revenge and bring him to justice before it’s too late, they embark on a terrible cosmic journey together.
This is only a quick glimpse into what the movie will be about, but we can make some educated guesses about when it takes place and where the plot might go next.
Thor: Love and Thunder will most likely pick up after Avengers: Endgame, when we last saw Thor with the Guardians of the Galaxy and his newfound obesity. As seen by photographs and videos of Chris Hemsworth’s pre-production exercises, it appears that he’ll return to his muscular best in Thor’s fourth solo movie.
The Mighty Thor series, written by Jason Aaron, is clearly an influence on the story of Thor: Love and Thunder, as we discovered when researching for the film. Because of Thor’s loss of Mjolnir’s lifting capacity, Jane Foster takes on the role of the god of thunder while also fighting cancer in her human form.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2020, Taika Waititi revealed, “When we were shooting Ragnarok, I was reading one narrative by Jason Aaron, The Mighty Thor” (per Deadline). When it comes to this particular plotline, “for those of you who know that storyline, it is really wonderful, it is full of emotion and love and thunder, and it presents the first-ever female Thor.”
No, Love and Thunder are not going to be like Thor: Ragnarok, which merely referred to the Planet Hulk tale from Marvel’s comic books. However, in a 2020 Yahoo interview, Portman stated that “[Janegoing ]’s through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side,” implying that the movie will be heavily influenced by the comics.
According to several toy figurine photos, it appears that Foster will be able to manage Mjolnir’s many parts after Hela, Thor’s half-sister, destroyed it in Ragnarok (per imgur.com). If nothing else, that’s going to make Thor’s hair stand on end.
According to Waititi, the film is “really ridiculous” in the nicest possible way. … It makes Ragnarok appear to be an unexceptional and safe film… We made this new picture as if we had asked a group of 10-year-olds what they wanted to see in a movie, and then just said yes to everything.”
In a subsequent interview with Empire, he stressed the over-the-top tone of Thor: Love and Thunder. In his life, “I’ve done some crazy things,” he stated. The craziest thing I’ve ever done in my ten lives of existence. To be honest, it shouldn’t make any sense if you wrote down everything that happens in this movie.
Like it should never have been created. As if you were to stroll into a room and declare, “I want everything!” We need to know more about who’s in it. These individuals. What are you going to call this new thing? Thunder and Lightning. You’d be out of a job for good. After this, I may not be able to.”
He’s also not holding back on the major love narrative, which hints that Thor 4 could be the MCU’s first full-fledged romance film. It was my goal from the outset to figure out what the fans had the least faith in this franchise to deliver on. Wired spoke to Waititi about the film. It’s a full-blown love story, I know that.” In addition, he told the BBC that the script is “quite romantic”.
When asked if Love and Thunder is an improvement over Ragnarok, Waititi said, “I don’t think there’s been any difference [between directing Ragnarok and Love and Thunder]. There are a few new faces, but the spirit and aim are unchanged. In other words, the scope and scale are identical.
The Thor: Love and Thunder News tweets below feature set photographs that emphasize the love story theme. In addition, the couple’s haircuts have been commonly considered to indicate that this is a flashback to the time period of The Dark World, so look for some flashbacks in the film.
“Sorry to hear that Jane dumped you,” an admirer expresses to Thor in the film Thor: Ragnarok. “I dumped her,” he responds. “It was a dumping ground for both of us.” Regardless of what really happened between the pair, it’s evident that there’s a lot we don’t know about their relationship in the following years—expect these details to play a significant role in this film’s plot.
It will be intriguing to watch how Valkyrie and Thor reunite in New Asgard, a coastal resort on Earth, where she is the ruler.
A Gorr invasion may be the reason for Thor’s reappearance in New Asgard. Leaked LEGO sets claim that Gorr will attack the new Earth-bound community of Asgardians (thank you to the Marvel News Twitter fan account for the screenshot).
According to The Cosmic Circus, the goofy-looking creature in the LEGO set may actually appear in the film, as Lizzie Hill suggests. We’re treating this with a grain of salt, too, because LEGO sets don’t usually reveal what’s to come in future Marvel films.
On Good Morning America and Marvel.com lately, there were a lot of new Thor: Love and Thunder items to be seen. The Goat Watercraft, another LEGO set, depicts Thor, Jane, Valkyrie, and Korg sailing away on a goat-powered boat. In this scene, Gorr appears to be pursuing them, although it isn’t clear whether this is an actual scene from the movie.
As for Tessa Thompson, she tells ET Canada, “I will not be a house for spoilers, so I can’t say anything. I can’t give anything away. Everything that needs to be said has been said, in my opinion. There is no doubt that Valkyrie is the king of New Asgard, and she has been reunited with her long-lost buddy Thor. To put it simply, Taika Waititi has done an outstanding job.

Interestingly, Thompson has also stated that he would like to explore the character’s sexuality in further detail. When asked about Valkyrie being the first openly LGBTQ+ MCU character in an interview with The Wrap, Thompson stated it was “absolutely exciting.” She then hinted that we would see her bisexuality explored in Love and Thunder.
“There are a plethora of LGBT characters to be found in the canonical comics. both I and Taika Waititi wished we might have gone even further, it’s difficult “It was Thompson’s opinion. “Because of this, we can only accomplish so much in the movies. In general, Marvel movies don’t devote a lot of screen time to love stories. That’s something I’m looking forward to seeing on the new Thor.”
As a result of Love and Thunder’s inclusion of the Guardians, Waititi consulted the film’s director, James Gunn, for advice on how to incorporate them into Thor 4. To the question of how much input he had on Love and Thunder, Gunn responded: “A lot.” “Taiki is doing a fantastic job with the writing, and there isn’t much else to say. I read his script, and he read mine, and we spoke about the characters’ current situations and future plans before he started writing it.”
Is Thor: Love and Thunder the Final Mcu Appearance for the Norse God?
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has Thor reached his climax? Marvel Studios provided this image.
Right now, that’s a mystery. Hemsworth had grown tired of the same, slightly one-dimensional portrayal of the character prior to Ragnarok’s debut in 2018.
As a result of Waititi’s reinvigoration of the superhero in Ragnarok, Hemsworth later said that he would “play this character for as long as anyone would let me” on This Morning.
In April 2019, Chris Hemsworth said that he doesn’t know if he’ll reprise the role of Thor in any future MCU productions or solo films. That is if he makes it out of Love and Thunder unscathed. Even if he does hang up Mjolnir for good after Thor 4, we wouldn’t mind if he did so, because Hemsworth has done a fantastic job portraying Thor over time in the MCU.
The possibility exists that Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor in What If…?, Marvel’s Disney Plus animated anthology series. Even if he’s done with live-action productions, he voiced a different version of Thor, known as Frog Thor, in Loki season 1, thus there are still options for him to continue portraying Thor. We’ll see if he’s here for the long haul.
