Yoshihiro Togashi wrote and drew the manga series Hunter Hunter (pronounced “hunter hunter”). Since March 1998, it has been published in Shueisha’s sheen manga magazine Weekly Shnen Jump, while the series has gone on long hiatuses many times since 2006. As of October 2018, 36 tankbon volumes have been published including its chapters.

The story follows Gon Freecss, a young boy who discovers that his father, who abandoned him when he was young, is a world-renowned Hunter, a licensed professional who specialises in fantastical pursuits such as locating rare or unidentified animal species, treasure hunting, surveying unexplored enclaves, or hunting down lawless individuals. Gon sets off on a quest to discover his father and become a Hunter. Gon confronts the otherworldly and meets other Hunters along the way.


Hunter Hunter was made into a 62-episode anime television series directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi and shown on Fuji Television between October 1999 and March 2001. From 2002 to 2004, Nippon Animation developed three unique original video animations (OVAs) with a total of 30 episodes and published them in Japan. Madhouse produced a second anime television series that ran on Nippon Television from October 2011 to September 2014, consisting of 148 episodes and two animated theatrical features. Hunter Hunter has also spawned a slew of audio CDs, video games, musicals, and other works.

Togashi joined Twitter on Tuesday, May 24, and his first post seemed to announce the resumption of his renowned series by showing a close-up of one of the pages he was sketching, which had the number six scrawled in one corner.


“4 more episodes for the time being,” the 56-year-old manga creator remarked in Japanese in a tweet.

Manga Hunter Is Back!

On Twitter, a user named “Yoshihiro Togashi” claimed to be the creator of Hunter x Hunter. The initial tweet from the aforementioned account alluded to the manga’s reappearance, but no one knew whether Togashi’s account was legitimate. The creator of One Punch Man, Yusuke Murata, then followed this new account and retweeted the message on the manga’s future.


After fans voiced their skepticism, Murata tweeted that he will soon clarify whether Togashi’s account was genuine. To everyone’s pleasure, Murata then verified that Togashi built the new Twitter account and submitted the update personally.
