Rapper Drake teamed up with the Backstreet Boys to sing “I Want It That Way.”
The Backstreet Boys performed in Toronto last night (July 2). Drake appeared as a surprise guest during their act and helped them sing “I Want It That Way.” Below, you can see it happen.
In the largest week for any album in 2022, Drake’s new dance album Honestly, Nevermind debuted at No. 1 for the eleventh time. This summer, he surprised the world by releasing the album, which made him one of just five musicians to have had more than 10 No. 1 album to his name.
Lil Uzi Vert recently reworked “I Want It That Way” into “That Way,” which was featured in a Chance the Rapper-assisted Super Bowl commercial.
At a concert in Toronto on Saturday night, Drake was made an honorary member of the Backstreet Boys by the band.
The boy band had just finished their set when the five came out to introduce Drake to a standing ovation. As a 13-year-old youngster, Drake explained the meaning of the song before the band rushed into their 1999 hit, “I Want It That Way.”
During one of the best songs in the world, this girl I was in love with came up to me and asked if I would dance with her at my bar mitzvah for the first time in my life, the rapper told the crowd of thousands in Toronto. A “first” in my life: “It was the first time I was acknowledged and it was the first time I felt like I had a chance at becoming cool.”
