The 22-Year-Old Wife of Albert Pujols Files for Divorce Just Days After Having Brain Surgery.
After just announcing his divorce from his wife of more than 20 years, Albert Pujols is entering his final season as a single man.
Pujols said in a statement that he had decided to file for divorce from his wife, Deidre, after 22 years of marriage.
“I’ve been asked a lot of questions over the past few days regarding what’s been going on at home and sadly, after 22 years of marriage, I have made the decision to file for divorce from my wife, Deidre,” he said.
Pujols concedes that the timing of the revelation is unfortunate given that his wife underwent brain surgery last week to remove a tumor, but maintains that the divorce is “something that just happened overnight.”
“This is a result that I never wanted to happen as a devoted Christian. I prayed for many long days and nights, pleading with the Lord to lead me.”
Pujols, who wed Deidre in 2000, avoided going into specifics regarding their split.
I’m grateful for the five lovely kids we brought into the world, and I’m still determined to give them a secure and loving home.
Pujols, who played for the Cardinals and Angels for the duration of his career, is a two-time World Series champion, three-time National League MVP, and ten-time All-Star. He is fifth all-time with 679 career home runs, which puts him.
Deidre Pujols Sent the Following Message to Her Instagram Fans:
“Today, as we watch Albert begin the 2022 season with the St. Louis Cardinals, where it all began for our family years ago, I am thrilled to celebrate what will be a wonderful baseball experience for our family, baseball fans, and for the story of baseball.
This morning, Albert and I had a wonderful conversation in which we discussed the events of today and everything that will occur. We also prayed together to set the tone for the day, and he expressed his excitement along with ours.
He was one of the most disciplined athletes in his sport that I have ever met, and I have never ceased to be amazed at how God has used him both on and off the field! I’m so glad he has another year to play the game!
I would never pass up the chance to send love and blessings to someone I have lived the most of my life with and will always be connected to, despite the recent rise in media attention to our personal lives.
If I had been able, I would have joined our kids in celebrating this momentous occasion with him.
But as I continue to heal from surgery, I’ll be there in spirit and watching from home. We would want to thank all of the supporters and viewers who have followed Albert throughout his historic career. We are unlikely to see someone perform as well in this game as Albert has in our lifetime.
