Peter graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in Grand Rapids with his high school diploma in 2006. He continued on to the United States Military Academy to enhance his schooling before transferring to Columbia University in 2008.

Professional Career of Peter Meijer
In 2008, Peter enlisted in the US Army Reserve, where he began his career as a military officer. In 2010, he was sent on assignment to Iraq where he served as an intelligence advisor.
In order to pursue his education goals, he quit the army in 2016. He also served as a conflict analyst for an international NGO in 2013.
- After receiving his MBA, he began working as a business analyst, landing his first position in 2018 at Olympia Development Michigan. He participated in initiatives like Project Rubicon and urban renewal initiatives, among others. In 2019, he chose to quit his job and enter politics.
- He declared his intention to run as a Republican for the 3rd Congressional District of Michigan in 2019 and obtained financial assistance from several Michigan business families for his campaign. Even though it was a close campaign, he was able to defeat Hillary Scholten in his final contest with 53% of the vote.
- After taking office in 2021, he joined a number of significant committees, including those for foreign relations, research, space, and technology. Additionally, he joined the Republican Main Street Partnerships, the Republican Governance group, and the Problem Solvers caucus.

Additionally, he has expressed his disapproval of other republicans in regard to specific incidents, such as the attack on Capitol Hill, which he strongly opposed. Peter urged Republicans to accept blame for this incident and for circulating inaccurate claims of electoral fraud. In order to launch an investigation into the same incident, he also joined the Democratic party.
Peter recently denounced Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene for equating the Holocaust with the wearing of Face masks. Additionally, he just joined a select group of Republicans who voted to repeal the use of military force against Iraq.
More recently, he traveled to the Hamid Karzai airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, alongside Seth Moulton in order to acquire firsthand knowledge about the situation there. When questioned about the same, they gave the delay and a lack of pertinent information as the reasons. Additionally, they claimed that by the time news reached the US, it had become outdated.
