Television personality John Amadeus Devenanzio, also known as Johnny Bananas, is best known for being a contestant on the MTV reality game show The Challenge. His first appearance on television occurred in 2006 during the seventeenth season of The Real World. He started hosting 1st Look on NBC in 2018.
Birth, Parents, Children, and Education
He is the son of army veteran Regis Devenanzio and his wife Laura Avery, a stay-at-home mother who spent her days rearing Johnny and his sister, Hillary Rose. Johnny Devenanzio was born on June 22, 1982, in Santa Monica, California, in the United States.
This MTV star, who is American by birth, had mediocre high school grades, which hurt his chances of getting into a prestigious university. His family relocated to Long Island after he graduated from high school, and he enrolled at Nassau Community College.
After a few semesters there, he eventually enrolled at Pennsylvania State University, where he majored in economics. He was a good student. In contrast to his father’s wishes for him, who were to join the military or practice law, Johnny decided to pursue a completely different line of work.
He acquired the moniker “Bananas” while attending Penn State, and it has stuck to this day. Apparently, his university-related pranks were so outrageous that they led to the nickname.
Through a girl he had a crush on, he learned about MTV’s show “The Real World.” During one of their dates, they watched television, and after watching an episode of “The Real World,” he became rather intrigued by the idea of the show.
He auditioned with a number of other contestants, and as a result, his first appearance on television was in that reality TV show in 2006. He immediately gained popularity after his introduction to the public, appearing in 26 episodes where he demonstrated his abilities in a variety of challenging situations.
His charismatic personality both saved him in some circumstances and got him into a lot of trouble, especially when he got into arguments with Paula Walnuts.
Nevertheless, because of his initial success, he was chosen for the spin-off program “The Challenge,” where he made his debut the following year.
Become a Star
He was eliminated right away in his first episode of “The Challenge,” but he returned for the subsequent season and has since taken part in a total of 20 episodes of the self-titled reality TV program. Despite a rocky beginning, he went on to win seven titles and make a sizable sum of money.
As a result of his successes, Johnny rose to prominence as one of MTV’s main stars and appeared on a number of other TV programs, such as the spin-off “The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars” (2017–2018) and as a special co-host for the program “Ex on the Beach” (2018).
He also participated in the competition “Worst Cooks in America” (2020). Johnny Bananas currently serves as the host of the reality television program “Celebrity Sleepover” (2021), in which he conducts a number of celebrity interviews from the comfort of his own room.
Career in Acting
Johnny has dabbled in acting and has made a few notable appearances in addition to his success in reality TV shows. In the critically acclaimed comedy “The Head Thieves,” he played Rex Flex, and he also made an appearance in “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot” (2019). He most recently appeared in the comedy “Reboot Camp” (2020).
Johnny Bananas’ net worth is estimated to be around $200,000. He has won $684270 in total in “The Challenge” competitions. He also manages a website where he sells his own goods like T-shirts, hoodies, and other things. These sales have also helped him amass wealth.
Personal, Dating, and Girlfriend Life?
His romance with Hannah Teter, an American snowboarder and Olympic gold medalist, which lasted from 2012 to 2017 is his first known long-term relationship. Johnny is known for several high-profile relationships.
In addition, he has reportedly had brief relationships with a number of other celebrities, including Trisha Cummings, Camila Nakagawa, Natalie Negrotti, and others.
The two met on the reality competition series “The Challenge,” where they were paired up in one of the seasons, and are currently dating reality TV star, Morgan Willet. Sadly, their time on the show came to an abrupt end, but their bond grew stronger.
They embarked on a two-week world tour during which they fell in love. They split up after a year, but got back together in 2018 for the show “Ex on the Beach.”
Johnny Bananas’ popularity is unmatched. Johnny, whose real surname is Devenanzio, is worth $200,000. MTV’s “The Real World” spin-offs made him famous. Furthermore, he won the “Battle of the Exes.” Johnny sued HBO for defamation over the name “Johnny Bananas,” which was also a character on Entourage, but he lost.
