Why did James Hetfield File for Divorce from his Wife After 25 Years?

James Hetfield of Metallica has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife Francesca.

James reportedly filed in Colorado earlier this year, according to TMZ’s sources, and the couple’s divorce just happened to slip under the radar.

After five years of dating, they tied the knot in 1997. Cali, 24, Marcella, 20, and Castor, 22 are their offspring. Reportedly keeping in touch for the sake of their children, the ex-spouses still treat each other with respect.

In 2017, Hetfield, 59, told Joe Rogan (via MetalHeadZone), “Fear was a significant incentive in that for me.” He was referring to his soon-to-be ex-wife, 52, whom he is now married to but plans to divorce.

Fear of abandonment by my loved ones as a result of my off-the-road antics was the lowest point of my life. My wife had me move out, and I had to find a place to stay on my own, which was something I had actively tried to avoid.
