American former professional road racer Lance Edward Armstrong (born September 18, 1971; birth name Gunderson).

He was hailed as a sports legend for winning the Tour de France seven times in a row from 1999 to 2005 after overcoming testicular cancer, but all of his victories were later revoked after it was discovered that he had used performance-enhancing drugs throughout his career.

Professional Career of His Life:

Armstrong began his athletic career as a swimmer at the City of Plano Swim Club when he was 12 years old. He placed fourth in the Texas state 1,500-meter freestyle competition. After seeing a sign for the Iron Kids Triathlon, a junior triathlon that he won at age 13, he stopped competing in swimming-only competitions.


In the 19-and-under division of the 1987–1988 Tri-Fed/Texas (Tri-Fed was the previous name of USA Triathlon), Armstrong was rated first; Chann McRae, who later joined the US Postal Service cycling team and won the 2002 USPRO national championship, finished in second.

Armstrong scored more points overall in 1987 as an amateur than five pros who finished higher in the rankings.

Lance Armstrong started competing professionally as a triathlete at the age of 16, and at the ages of 18 and 19, he won the national sprint-course triathlon championships in 1989 and 1990.

  • In June 1997, Armstrong got to know Kristin Richard. A son (born in October 1999) and twin daughters (born on May 1, 1998) are the result of their marriage (born in November 2001). Sperm Armstrong had stored three years prior, before chemotherapy and surgery, allowed for the conceptions.
  • In 2003, the couple got divorced. Armstrong’s children went to Paris at his request for the 2005 Tour de France podium celebration, where his daughters (dressed in yellow) handled the yellow flower bouquet and plush lion mascot while his son Luke assisted his father in hoisting the trophy.
  • In 2003, the same year that Lance Armstrong started dating singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, Lance and Kristin Armstrong announced their divorce. In September 2005, the couple announced their engagement, and they separated in February 2006.
  • Armstrong and Anna Hansen met through Armstrong’s charitable activities, and they started dating in July 2008. Armstrong said Hansen was expecting the couple’s first child in December 2008.
  • Despite the fact that it was thought Armstrong couldn’t have children because of chemotherapy for testicular cancer, the child was conceived spontaneously.
