Career
Liz Chaney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and Second Lady Lynne Cheney, was born on July 28, 1966, in Wisconsin. At the time she was born, both of her parents were enrolled at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Cheney’s father ran for Congress while she was in middle school in Casper, Wyoming. She and her family shuttled between Casper and Washington while her father served in Congress in the ’70s and ’80s.
McLean High School was her first stop, and she went on to earn a BA in Art History from Colorado College. At the University of Chicago Law School, she penned her thesis on “The Evolution of Presidential War Powers” and earned her J.D.
Before pursuing a career in law, Cheney worked for USAID (the United States Agency for International Development) in the State Department from 1989 to 1993. Later, she joined the consulting business Armitage Associates LLP, created by Richard Armitage, a former Defense Department official and Deputy Secretary of State.

Controversies
Cheney was inaugurated as Vice President in 2017, and he had previously backed Trump for president and co-sponsored legislation in favor of the Endangered Species Act. She was a staunch Trump supporter and advocated for the president and his policies at every opportunity. But after the attack on the Capitol, Cheney declared she would vote to impeach Trump for his complicity in the attack.
