Later, she joined the consulting business Armitage Associates LLP, created by Richard Armitage, a former Defense Department official and Deputy Secretary of State.

As a member of the World Bank Group, the International Finance Corporation sought out Cheney’s expertise as an attorney at White & Case. In addition to her time as a USAID officer at the U.S. embassies in Warsaw and Budapest, she worked as a Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State for Assistance to the former Soviet Union.

Controversies

Cheney was inaugurated as Vice President in 2017, and he had previously backed Trump for president and co-sponsored legislation in favor of the Endangered Species Act. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called her out for equating immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border with victims of a concentration camp.

She was a staunch Trump supporter and advocated for the president and his policies at every opportunity. But after the attack on the Capitol, Cheney declared she would vote to impeach Trump for his complicity in the attack. Due to her treachery toward the prior president, Trump ordered his rebels to eliminate Cheney.

For supporting Trump’s impeachment, she was also asked to resign as a representative for the Wyoming Republican Party. In 2021, she was officially kicked out of the party for having no proof to support impeaching the former president, a point Cheney used to justify his support for staying in the fold.

It was demanded that Cheney testifies before the House Select Committee investigating the attack on the Capitol. However, despite her contentious personality, Cheney has been honored with numerous accolades. In recognition of her achievements as a leader, inventor, entrepreneur, and scientist after the age of 50, Forbes included her on their annual list of the “50 over 50.”
