Undead Unluck is a Japanese Manga Series written and illustrated by Yoshifumi Tozuka. Since January 2020, the Undead Unluck manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and as of July 2022, the chapters have been compiled into twelve tank volumes.
In addition, the manga adaptation of The Undead Unluck has been confirmed as the winner of the Next-Generation Manga Award (Tsugi ni Kuru Manga) for 2020. The Undead Unluck manga has a total of 120 chapters. On February 25, 2022, there were 1.5 million copies of the series in print around the world.
It turns out that the first installment of this manga was a one-shot named Undead + Unluck, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 9 on January 28, 2019. By issue 8 of Weekly Shonen Jump in 2020, on January 20, the One-Shot had been serialized into a proper series.

Summer’s almost over, and as fall approaches, everyone is wondering what the anime industry will do next. The most recent reports, if they are accurate, suggest that an anime adaptation of Undead Unluck is in the works. As such, it will join the ranks of other popular manga series that have been adapted into anime.

The announcement has come from the world of social media, where fan pages have been dropping hints about the next project over the past few weeks. This site claims that an announcement regarding an anime adaptation of Undead Unluck will be made within the next two weeks.
The 39th edition of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine confirmed the 2023 release date for the Undead Unluck anime adaptation. The official Twitter account for Undead Unluck quickly announced that the release year for the anime adaptation would be 2023. Andy, a guy with an “immortal” physique, and Fuko Izumo, a girl who sends “misfortune” to all who touch her, star in the first teaser visual, which was also released.

- Fuuko Izumo Voiced by Moe Kahara: As discussed in the plot, Fuuko is a young girl who teams up with Andy.
- Andy Voiced by Yuichi Nakamura: Suicidal and impulsive man who joins forces with Fuuko.
- Juiz: The leader and founder of The Union.
- Shen Voiced by Natsuki Hanae: A vivacious Chinese martial artist.
- Mui: Shen’s assistant. She was Shen’s aide before the Union’s war with Feng, Shen’s master.
- Tatiana: A young Russian girl who adores her colleagues.
- Top: A Brazilian 15-year-old with a bad temper.
Isshin, Phil, Nico Vorgeil, Gina, Void, Ichico Nemuri, Billy, Rip Tristan, Latla, Feng, Creed, Backs, Tella, Yusai, Sadako, and a plethora of additional characters who all play important roles in the series are also included.
Undead Unluck Anime Plot
Fuuko Izumo, the protagonist of the Undead Unluck manga series, is a young girl who has been living in isolation for the past ten years after an incident at the age of eight claimed the lives of over 200 people, including her parents. Upon completing her favorite long-running girls’ manga series, Fuuko intends to take her own life.
She is worried by the fact that no one can touch her because of her “unlucky” ability, which causes ill fortune for anybody who comes into personal contact with her. After meeting an “undead” guy with remarkable regenerative abilities, she learns that he despises his immortal life and wants to die in the most spectacular way possible.
Because he is undead, Fuuko gives him the name Andy, and the two starts working together. But they begin to suspect that a shadowy group called the Union is following their every move. Finally, an assassin for the Union named Shen reveals that the Union has a special team of ten people with special abilities and that by joining the team,
they will no longer be hunted, so Andy and his friend decide to join the team in order to achieve Andy’s wish for “the best death,” despite the fact that it will force them to face numerous enemies and the mysteries of the world. The group’s goals are laid forth in a magical book called Apocalypse (Apokaripuso).
