Early Life and Childhood
On August 26, 1997, just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, YBN Cordae was born to a mother who was only 16 years old. His mother and grandmother took care of him while he was a baby and reared him. When he was five, his family relocated to South Carolina, and when he was ten, they settled in Suitland, Maryland.
He was influenced by his father to listen to rap music, and he did so with artists like 50 Cent and Ja Rule. According to Cordae, the three greatest rappers of all time are Eminem, Big L, and Nas.
Westlake High School in Waldorf, Maryland, is where YBN earned his diploma in 2015. He then enrolled at Towson University in Maryland in 2017, but in 2018, he decided to pursue a career in hip hop full-time and relocate to Los Angeles.
Cordae’s hobby of composing rap songs began when he was 15 years old. YBN Nahmir and he became fast friends after he and other students at his university connected with each other on social media.
