Andrew Schulz, Star of The Film "you People," Claims that Jonah Hill and Lauren London's Kiss in The Film Was a Phony Cgi Effect.

Director Andrew Schulz has stated that the kissing sequence between Jonah Hill and Lauren London in You People was generated entirely with computer graphics.

In the film, which came out just this past month, Hill plays Ezra, and London plays Amiraas, two characters who fall in love.

Because of their racial differences, the pair must deal with a maze of society norms and expectations.

In addition to Schulz, Eddie Murphy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Duchovny, Nia Long, and Nia Long’s character Avi are featured in the film.

In the film, Ezra and Amiraas lean in for a passionate kiss as blossoms rain down around them.

Schulz recalled the event, saying, “I don’t even know whether I should reveal this s***, but in the end scene, they don’t even kiss.”

“Computer-generated imagery. He said, “Swear to God, son,” on the Brilliant Idiots podcast.

When asked about his experience at the wedding, Schulz remarked, “I’m there, I’m watching the ceremony, and I see them go in for the kiss and their faces stop like this far.” He then spread his hands apart to demonstrate the space between Hill and London’s faces.

To which she replies, “And I’m thinking, ‘I wonder how they’re going to play that in the movie. Schulz continued, “Oh, they’re probably just going to cut right there. In contrast, “you can watch their faces come close and then you can see their expressions morph a little bit into a phony kiss” in the film.

Critics have been harsh on You People, one of Netflix’s most popular films.

Film critic Clarisse Loughrey gave the film two stars in The Independent and said it was a “culture-clash rom-com completely sure it’s a parody” and “wasted” the skills of actors Eddie Murphy and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

A mere 45% of critics have given the picture a positive rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, and just 40% of moviegoers have given it a positive rating.
