Michelle Arroyo, Grayson’s mother, said on social media on Tuesday, February 7, that her son had died. Grayson was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006, just three days after his sixth birthday, according to Arroyo’s support site. The cause of his death has not been made public.
“It breaks my heart to tell you that my sweet Gray died Sunday night. It was a big surprise because last week they took CSF from his shunts and changed the valve setting, and he was doing much better,” she wrote on Instagram with a photo of her son.

“We were still having trouble with his diarrhea, and because it was so low, I gave him potassium three times a day. His heart stopped at home, so I did chest compressions to get it going again until the paramedics arrived and took over. When he went to the hospital, he looked good and was breathing on his own, but when he got there, his heart gave out again.

Arroyo said that she doesn’t “have all the answers right now,” but she did say that Grayson has been dealing with “fevers, infections, and low potassium” for the past few months, which “most likely took a toll on my sweet boy’s heart.”
