Fans Are Angry that Karl Malone Will Be Judging the NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

Karl Malone, who is in the NBA Hall of Fame, will go back to the arena where he played for 18 seasons on Saturday.

The former Utah Jazz forward will judge the Slam Dunk Contest when NBA All-Star Weekend comes back to Salt Lake City for the first time since 1993 when he and John Stockton were named co-MVPs of the All-Star Game.

Malone, a 14-time All-Star, will be one of five judges.

The others are Jamal Crawford, a three-time Sixth Man of the Year winner, Lisa Leslie, a two-time WNBA champion, Harold Miner, who won the dunk contest in 1993 and 1995, and Dominque Wilkins, who won the dunk contest in 1985 and 1990.

KJ Martin of Houston, Trey Murphy of New Orleans, Mac McClung of Philadelphia, and Jericho Sims of New York will compete in this year’s dunk contest.

The competition will strive to bounce back from a dismal performance the last time around when New York’s Obi Toppin won.

On Saturday at 6 p.m. MST, TNT will broadcast All-Star Saturday Night, which features the Skills Challenge, 3-point Contest, and Dunk Contest.
