Da Brat famously rapped that she was here to “represent for the rest of the family,” and now her family is growing.
The singer, who is 48 years old, announced on Tuesday that she is expecting her first child.
The “Funkdafied” rapper told People magazine, “I never thought I would have kids.” “I just thought that it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great life and career. I thought that since I hadn’t gotten pregnant sooner, it just wasn’t going to happen for me.”
Da Brat got married to Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart, who has three kids, a year ago.
Harris-Dupart told the publication that Da Brat had to be persuaded to carry their newest family member.
“At first, there was a little tug-of-war, but I thought she should have the experience,” Harris-Dupart said. “She’s very caring.”
People say that before an embryo transfer procedure, Da Brat had surgery to remove fibroids and polyps. She also lost a pregnancy before she got pregnant again.

“I Never Thought I Would Have Children.”
The rapper, who is known for her hit “Funkdafied,” said that she and Harris-Dupart began their journey to becoming parents when they got married in February of last year.
Harris-Dupart, who is 41 and the CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products, was launching a new line at the time that was based on her wife’s famous braids and protective hairstyles.

“At first, it was a joke. We said, ‘We’re growing our family!'” Da Brat said. “Then, though, we got a lot of responses. It was like, “Oh my God, do we really want to have kids?
If we do, girl, we better hurry up!
“”
Da Brat said that she had never thought she would become a mother. Her wife already had three children from another relationship.
