Why Raeliana Lived at the Duke’s Mansion Gaya Haessdeon Sajeong is a South Korean web novel written by Milcha. Since September 19, 2016, it has been released in parts on Kakao’s digital comic and fiction platform KakaoPage.
On September 3, 2017, a webtoon adaptation started running in KakaoPage. It was drawn by Whale.
Anime
On July 4, 2022, it was announced that the book would be turned into an anime TV show. It is made by Typhoon Graphics and directed by Junichi Yamamoto. Mitsutaka Hirota wrote the scripts, Haruna Hashimoto designed the characters, and Keiji Inai made the music.
The first episode of the show will air on AT-X and other networks on April 10, 2023. “Always and Forever” by Serra is the ending theme song. Crunchyroll got the rights to show the show outside of Asia.
Who Made It?
Milcha is probably best known for writing The Reason Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke’s Mansion, which started out as a South Korean web novel sometime in 2016. Because it was so popular, it was turned into a webcomic by the artist known as Whale in 2017. This April, Typhoon Graphics will start airing an anime TV series based on the book.

About the Movie
Rinko Hanasaki (Eunha Park in the original manhwa) is happy about some good news, but then she dies mysteriously and ends up in a book. She wakes up as Raeliana McMillan, a minor character who is going to die soon.
Raeliana is a young noblewoman whose future husband is supposed to poison her to death. Once our main character realizes where she is and who she is, she decides what to do.
She makes a deal with the main character of the book, Noah Wynknight, that is too good to refuse. She does this to try to keep her fiancé from killing her. This starts a chain of events that changes the novel and, eventually, how Raeliana interacts with other characters after she dies in the book.
Who Would Be Interested in This?
- Fans of the original novel and web comic, of course
- Fans of Isekai, romance, and fantasy will enjoy this book.
- Fans of stories with lots of twists and turns and a lot of mystery
- Fans of anime who want to see more adaptations of Korean comics, or manhwa, should watch more anime that uses manhwa.
- People who like seeing all the tropes of romantic comedies put to good use: Love triangles, fake relationships, and second chances.
Where Can I Read It?
You can read both the original novel and the web-comic on Tappytoon! (Available on both the web and app.) It’s an understatement to say that it’s a very, very popular webcomic, since the series alone has over five million views.
The first few volumes of the webcomic have been put out in full color by Yen Press. You can buy them digitally or in print.
What Are Some Important Characters I Should Know About?
Raeliana McMillan is a minor character who dies early on in the novel that Rinko (Park Eunha in the Korean comics, Rinko in the Japanese version) reads while studying for college exams. On the night she got good news that made her want to celebrate, her life was cut short. When she wakes up, she is Raeliana, a young noblewoman in the same book she read before!
Even though her new life is strange, she sits and thinks about the story’s plot and what happens next. She must stay alive if she wants to live longer in this second life than she did in the first.
Knowing that her fiancé killed her, she comes up with a plan: she will talk to the male lead of the book and offer him a deal in exchange for his protection. By doing this, she changes the story as she knows it and finally gets the life she’s always wanted.
