James Hetfield is an American musician who plays the guitar, sings, and writes songs. James Hetfield became famous and rich as the lead singer, guitarist, and main writer for the band Metallica.

James Alan Hetfield was born on August 3, 1963, in Downey, California. His father was a truck driver, while his mother sang opera.
He was thirteen when his parents split up. Even when his mother was terminally ill with cancer, the family did not employ modern medicine because they were ardent Christian Scientists.
James was 16 years old in 1979 when Cynthia passed away from cancer. Much of Metallica’s lyrics would subsequently be inspired by this suffering as well as other traumatic childhood experiences.
Hetfield’s early piano lessons gave him his first exposure to music. He understood that performing rock music was his actual calling by the time he was fourteen. He was in a few bands including Leather Charm and Obsession.

Hetfield found drummer Lars Ulrich’s ad in a Los Angeles newspaper called “The Recycler.” In 1981, they joined forces to form the heavy metal band Metallica. Dave Mustaine, a guitarist, and Cliff Burton, a bassist, joined them.
Their first album, “Kill ‘Em All” (1983), was in the style of early 1980s British metal. Their next album, “Ride the Lightning,” had social and political themes, and their third album, “Master of Puppets,” which came out in 1985, was hailed by critics as a masterpiece.

The county then invested $650,000 in building a new trail, later known as the 680 Trail, to provide travelers with an additional route between two well-liked recreation locations. James has contributed portions of his land to other nonprofit land trusts throughout the years.
For instance, the Hetfields gave 240 acres for agricultural protection in 2017. They gave the Marin Agricultural Land Trust 1,000 acres of open land in February 2018.
