Many people have trouble sleeping at night because they have insomnia, so they end up watching a whole season of anime all at once.

Even though much high school-based anime, like K-On and Asobi Asobase, have focused on club activities, the upcoming anime Insomniacs After School has a unique idea and will focus on friendship, romance, and a slice of high school life.

The anime Insomniacs After School is based on a Japanese manga with the same name.

The manga is called Kimi Wa Hokago Insomunia in Japanese. Makoto Ojiro wrote and drew the manga, and since 2019, Viz Media has been putting it out in English.

People’s reactions to manga have always been positive, especially in the last few years. When the anime was announced in January 2022, fans thought it would be one of the best shows of the year.

So, here’s everything we know about the upcoming anime Insomniacs After School.

The Story of Insomniacs After School

The plot is simple but interesting. Manga readers will know the story well, and we’ll talk about it in more detail in the review section below. Ganta Nakami is a high school student who lives in the small city of Nanao. He has trouble sleeping.

Because he has trouble sleeping, Ganta gets angry with his classmates and ends up making them dislike him. He finds out about the Astronomy Club observatory at the school festival and decides to sleep there at night.

Even though Ganta knows that someone died in the lab, making it haunted and a place to avoid at night, he doesn’t care at all. He tries to take a nap in the empty astronomy lab at his school, where he meets a girl named Isaki Magari.

Isaki Magari is also unable to sleep, but she is friendly and carefree. As time goes on, the two of them start to become friends, which leads to the re-starting of the dysfunctional astronomical club.

From the way the story is told, we can tell that the slice-of-life anime is about two people who can’t sleep and how they get closer as they try different ways to sleep.
